Amherstburg blows out Dresden, 7-3

The Amherstburg Admirals were firing on all cylinders against the Dresden Kings, and when the final buzzer sounded Admirals emerged with a 7-3 win.

Amherstburg got the win on the strength of a great game by Curtis Prymack, who had one goal and three assists. Prymack scored 10:43 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Amherstburg. Mark Sobocan picked up the assist.

The Admirals' penalty kill excelled, as Amherstburg gave up one goal despite allowing 15 power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:26 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Admirals racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 15 minors and two majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 30.0 minutes per game Amherstburg had been spending in the box. The Admirals forced Dresden goalie Scott Tricker to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Amherstburg's goal total was higher than its season average. The Admirals average 4.8 goals per game.

Amherstburg also got points from James Brooks, who also had one goal and one assist, Kasey Basile, who also registered one goal and one assist, Luke Gangnon, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Chad Copeland, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Amherstburg also had goals scored by Ryan Alexander and Mark Gangnon, who scored one goal each. More assists for Amherstburg came via Cody Leeming, Marshal Laing, Dan Matoski, and Jordan Luciw, who contributed one each.

The Kings were often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. Dresden surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. The Kings forced Amherstburg's goalies to work between the pipes, launching 41 shots and forcing 38 saves. Arren Romeril made 38 stops and Gianfranco Donato made zero.

Dresden was helped by Kevin Ritzer, who finished with one goal and one assist. Ritzer scored 1:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. Will Tetzlaff assisted on the tally. Dresden additionally got points from Dillon Liberty, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dresden also got a goal from Macks Holmes as well. In addition, Dresden received assists from Wade Esselment and Taylor Sisson, who each chipped in one.

The Admirals registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Amherstburg, Steven Spada and Basile were ejected from the contest. Tricker rejected 34 shots on goal for the Kings. Team's Tyson Kulich and Steven Funk were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
