Alvinston wins tough contest against Wheatley, 4-2

The game between the Alvinston Flyers and the Wheatley Sharks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Alvinston emerged with a 4-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Karsten Berg's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Berg had a great game for the Flyers, netting two goals.

Wheatley was unable to stop Alvinston from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Alvinston included Josh Moore and Chad Rainsberry, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Clint Rose, Joe Archer, Zach VanEyk, and Matt Gough, who contributed one each and Jeremy VanDeven and Kole Keating, who each chipped in two.

The Sharks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Alvinston power plays. Wheatley forced Alvinston goalie Brett Avery to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Sharks were helped by Brendon Anger, who had one goal. Anger scored 2:57 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Alvinston. Lucas Raffoul also scored for Wheatley. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Mike Reid and Brett Bowman, who contributed one each.

Brett Avery made 32 saves for the Flyers on 34 shots. Alvinston incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Adam Leboeuf recorded 31 saves for Wheatley. The Sharks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
