Lakeshore downs Mooretown in overtime, 10-9 (OT)

The Lakeshore Canadiens' Hunter Corp scored 3:18 into overtime to beat the Mooretown Flags, 10-9 (OT).

Lakeshore overcame a five-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Canadiens trailed 8-3 after a goal by Mooretown's Brett Thompson at 12:06 in the second period. Lakeshore tied things up at 9-9 on a power play goal by Matt Brandon at 18:59 in the third period.

The Canadiens got the win behind a great game by Luke Sanko, who had two goals and two assists. Sanko scored the first of his two goals at 15:22 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. Sebastian Kanally assisted on the tally. Sanko's next tally made the score 2-2 with 2:09 left in the first period. Nick Tavolieri picked up the assist.

The Flags were unable to stop Lakeshore from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadiens eventually piled up 55 shots on goal. Lakeshore surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Canadiens average 4.8 goals per contest. Penalties took their toll on Lakeshore, as its penalty kill unit let in four power play goals. The Canadiens' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Lakeshore struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 38 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Lakeshore also got points from Tavolieri, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Brad Carroll, who also had one goal and one assist, Steven Sartor, who also registered one goal and two assists, Kanally, who also racked up one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Dylan Kolic, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Brenden Crundwell, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Lakeshore came via JJ Percy, Zack Bedard, Nick Goran, and Logan Percy, who each chipped in one.

Mooretown was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Flags surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Mooretown forced Canadiens' netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 44 shots and forcing 35 saves. John Jeffries made 17 stops and Colin Tetreault made 18. The Flags bested their season scoring average. Mooretown averages 3.1 goals per game. The Flags got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Mooretown was helped by Sam Jasmin, who registered two goals and three assists. Jasmin scored the first of his two goals at 27 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown. Frankie White assisted on the tally. Jasmin's next tally made the score 3-2 Mooretown with 19:33 left in the second period. Dan Lumley provided the assist. Mooretown additionally got points from Thompson, who also finished with four goals and one assist. Mooretown also had goals scored by Brent Blais and Ethan Dupont, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Mooretown were Taylor Declercq, who had one.

The Canadiens registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Lakeshore ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bedard was ejected from the game. Riley Collins made 45 saves for the Flags on 55 shots. For Mooretown, David Addley and Thompson were ejected from the contest.
