Mooretown's comeback falls short, Blenheim wins 4-2Mooretown Rink 1 Wed, Nov 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mooretown Flags almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Blenheim Blades managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end. Blenheim led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Blades' Derek Muzzatti scored at 4:56 in the second period to put Blenheim up 3-0. The Blades put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mooretown to score on any of its five power plays. Blenheim kept the Flags' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 31 saves on 35 shots. The Blades were helped by Teddy McGeen, who tallied one goal. McGeen scored on the power play 2:15 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Blenheim. Blenheim had taken the advantage when Mooretown's Austin Hewton got sent off for hooking. Kirk McKillop assisted on the tally. Blenheim additionally got points from McKillop, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Blenheim also got a goal from Mike Myers as well. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Bryan Boersma, who had two, Jordan Durston, who had three, and Dylan Muzzatti and Hunter Burk, who contributed one each. The Flags were helped by Justin Vanbuskirk, who racked up one goal. Vanbuskirk scored 8:39 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Blenheim. Sam Jasmin picked up the assist. Ryan Lyle also scored for Mooretown. More assists for Mooretown came via Dan Lumley and Frankie White, who each chipped in one. Klinton Kenney recorded 26 saves for the Blades. Blenheim incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mooretown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
