Blenheim holds on for 5-4 win against MooretownBlenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Nov 23, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mooretown Flags tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Blenheim Blades held on for a 5-4 victory. Blenheim took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have Mooretown storm back on a Brett Thompson goal 17:42 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Blades pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes. Blenheim's offense rang up 44 shots on the Flags' net. The Blades were helped by Derek Muzzatti, who had one goal. Muzzatti scored on the power play 17:13 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Blenheim. Blenheim had taken the advantage when Mooretown's Joe Stock got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Dylan Muzzatti picked up the assist. Blenheim additionally got points from Jordan Durston, who also registered one goal and one assist and Teddy McGeen, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Blenheim also had goals scored by Mike Myers and Blair Derynck, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Mackenzie Dick, who had one, Dylan Smith, who had two, and Corbin Hagerman, who had three. Mooretown also got points from Stock, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Justin Vanbuskirk as well. More assists for Mooretown came via Dan Lumley, who had two and Aiden Chapdalaine, Ryan Lyle, Kyle Smith, Brent Blais, and Sam Jasmin, who each chipped in one. Eric Stewardson rejected 25 shots on goal for the Blades. Blenheim registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Flags' Brandon Johnson stopped 39 shots out of the 44 that he faced. Mooretown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
