The Wheatley Sharks relied on the sparkling performance of Conner MacKinnon in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Wheatley was led by Brian Johnson, who grabbed one goal. Johnson scored 13:42 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wheatley.

The Sharks' offense rang up 33 shots on Wallaceburg's net. Wheatley got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Wheatley also had goals scored by Mike Reid and Austin Thompson, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Michael Travis, who had one.

The Lakers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Sharks to score on any of their three power plays. Wallaceburg forced Wheatley goalie MacKinnon to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Lakers were led by Jackson Gray, who scored the team's only goal. Gray scored 9:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wallaceburg. Cory Lucier assisted on the tally.

MacKinnon rejected 33 shots on goal for the Sharks. Wheatley incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Joel Sowinski recorded 30 saves for Wallaceburg. The Lakers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
