Essex blows out Mooretown, 9-0

The Mooretown Flags had trouble finding ways to stop the Essex 73s, which beat Flags, 9-0.

Jordan Ryan was all over the ice for Essex, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Ryan scored 10:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Essex.

The 73s forced Mooretown's goaltenders to work all game long, launching 54 shots and forcing 45 saves. Brandon Johnson made 13 stops and Riley Collins made 32. Essex put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Flags to score on any of their four power plays. The 73s bested their season scoring average. Essex averages 5.3 goals per game. The 73s' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Essex additionally got points from Anthony Cristofaro, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Essex also had goals scored by Daniel Slipchuk, who had two and William Stadder, Matt Zelko, Tyler Scott, Matthew Hebert, and Mark MacPherson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Phil Janikowski, Patrick Cuffaro, Dan Mainella, and Dallas Pereira, who each chipped in one and Eric Shaw and Tyler Turner, who contributed two each.

Mooretown could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Flags put an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game.

Colin Lauzon rejected 20 shots on goal for Essex. The 73s incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mooretown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
