Muzzatti's goals lift Blenheim to 4-1 victory over Wheatley

Derek Muzzatti had two goals to lead the Blenheim Blades to a 4-1 victory over the Wheatley Sharks.

Muzzatti found the back of the net 13:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim and again while 50 seconds into the second to make the score 2-0 Blenheim.

Wheatley was stymied by Blenheim's netminder Klinton Kenney, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Kenney managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.2 prior to the game.

The Blades' penalty kill excelled, as Blenheim gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Blades' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. Blenheim surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blades stifled the Sharks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wheatley was unable to stop Blenheim from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blades eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Blenheim also had goals scored by Bryan Boersma and Justin Baker, who scored one goal each. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Dylan Muzzatti and Tyler Boughner, who each chipped in one.

The Sharks were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game Wheatley had been spending in the box. The Sharks stifled Blenheim's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wheatley did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Sharks average 3.3 goals per game.

The Blades registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Blenheim ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Boughner was ejected from the game. Adam Leboeuf recorded 39 saves for Wheatley. For the Sharks, Shawn Hope was ejected from the game.
