Essex rips Alvinston, 6-1Essex Centre Sports Complex Tue, Nov 04, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Essex 73s were firing on all cylinders against the Alvinston Flyers, and when the final buzzer sounded 73s emerged with a 6-1 win. Essex was led by Michael Vieira, who had one goal. Vieira scored 16:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Essex. Daniel Slipchuk assisted on the tally. The 73s' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Alvinston power plays. Essex kept Alvinston's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cam MacAlpine made 34 saves on 40 shots. Essex additionally got points from Jordan Ryan, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Slipchuk, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Essex also had goals scored by Scott Bromley and Dallas Pereira, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Matt Zelko, who had three, Nick Mainella and Drew Hull, who each chipped in one, and William Stadder and Tyler Scott, who contributed two each. The Flyers were led by Kole Keating, who scored the team's only goal. Keating scored short handed 7:57 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Essex. Alvinston was on a disadvantage when Chad Rainsberry went off the ice for tripping. Hunter Bryce picked up the assist. The 73s' Noah Hedrick stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Essex incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
