Blenheim falls to Lakeshore after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Lakeshore Canadiens battled back to claim a 7-6 victory over the Blenheim Blades.

Lakeshore let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Canadiens took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by JJ Percy at 2:54 in the second period. Lakeshore went down 6-4 after Blenheim's Tyler Boughner put the puck home at 38 seconds in the third period. After evening things up at 6-6 on a goal by Nick Goran at 11:40 in the third, the Canadiens got the game-winner from Sebastian Kanally at 12:53 in the third period.

Lakeshore was paced on offense by Percy and Hunter Corp, who combined for seven points. Percy registered two goals and two assists and Corp also notched one goal and two assists.

The Canadiens put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blades to score on any of their four power plays. Blenheim was unable to stop Lakeshore from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadiens eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Lakeshore found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Canadiens have scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Lakeshore additionally got points from Kanally, who also had one goal and one assist and Corp, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Lakeshore included Brad Carroll and Luke Sanko, who each put in one. More assists for Lakeshore came via Dylan Kolic, who had two and Colin Sartor, Cameron MacDougall, Liam MacDougall, Zack Bedard, and Brenden Crundwell, who contributed one each.

The Blades outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Blenheim averages 2.9 goals per contest.

Blenheim also got points from Dylan Muzzatti, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Kellen Kaniecki, who also registered two goals and one assist. Blenheim also got a goal from Corbin Hagerman as well. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Doug Ross, Bryan Boersma, and Ben Pataki, who each chipped in one and Dylan Smith and Derek Muzzatti, who contributed two each.

Colin Tetreault took the win and made 14 saves before being replaced by John Jeffries who made eight saves. Lakeshore totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Canadiens, Nick Tavolieri was ejected from the game. Klinton Kenney recorded 27 saves for the Blades. Blenheim incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Muzzatti was ejected from the game.
