Amherstburg rides Romeril to victory over Blenheim, 6-1Libro Centre Sat, Nov 01, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Arren Romeril had a standout game with 28 saves, and the Amherstburg Admirals beat the Blenheim Blades 6-1. Amherstburg's penalty kill excelled, as the Admirals gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Amherstburg was sparked by Dean Patterson, who grabbed one goal. Patterson scored 7:48 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Amherstburg. Luke Gangnon picked up the assist. The Admirals kept Blenheim's goalie busy throughout the game, and Eric Stewardson made 26 saves on 32 shots. Amherstburg also had goals scored by Mark Gangnon, who had two and Jordan Luciw, Ryan Holzel, and Chad Copeland, who scored one goal each. More assists for Amherstburg came via Mark Sobocan, Marshal Laing, and Brett Beattie, who each chipped in one and Steven Spada and James Brooks, who contributed three each. The Blades stifled Amherstburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Blenheim was led by Teddy McGeen, who scored the team's only goal. McGeen scored on the power play 10:57 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Amherstburg. The Blades had gotten the advantage when the Admirals' Sobocan was sent off for tripping. Tyler Boughner assisted on the tally. Amherstburg incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Blenheim incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Blades, Alex Ritchie was ejected from the game.
