Liberty lifts Dresden over Lakeshore, 5-4

Dillon Liberty had four goals to lead the Dresden Kings to a 5-4 victory over the Lakeshore Canadiens.

Liberty got on the scoresheet 54 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 10:56 into the second, at 15:12 into the second, and at 17:41 into the third.

Dresden was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Kings had been spending in the box. Dresden's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Lakeshore power plays.

Dresden also got a goal from Justin Delgado as well. More assists for Dresden came via Kevin Ritzer, who had three and Wade Esselment, Devin Ouimet, David Vergeer, Ross Krieger, and Macks Holmes, who contributed one each.

Lakeshore forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up five minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The Canadiens surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. Lakeshore excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Canadiens' offense rang up 50 shots on the Kings' net.

Lakeshore was led by Hunter Corp, who had two goals and one assist. Corp scored the first of his two goals at 8:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Corp's next tally made the score 3-2 Lakeshore with 10:42 left in the second period. Nick Tavolieri assisted on the tally. Lakeshore additionally got points from Tavolieri, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Brad Carroll also scored for Lakeshore. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Colin Sartor, Sebastian Kanally, and Liam MacDougall, who each chipped in one.

Scott Tricker made 46 saves for Dresden on 50 shots. The Canadiens' John Jeffries stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Team's Luke Sanko and Logan Percy were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
