Essex uses big games from Ryan and McIntyre to down Lakeshore, 7-3

Behind two goals and one assist from Jordan Ryan and one goal and one assist from Daniel McIntyre, the Essex 73s downed the Lakeshore Canadiens 7-3.

Ryan scored the first of his two goals at 12:52 into the second period to make the score 2-2. McIntyre picked up the assist. Ryan's next tally made the score 3-2 Essex with 1:11 left in the second period. Essex earned a power play opportunity when Nick Goran was put in the box for boarding. Patrick Cuffaro provided the assist. McIntyre scored 19 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 Essex. Ryan assisted on the tally.

The 73s forced Lakeshore goalie John Jeffries to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Essex's goal total was higher than its season average. The 73s have scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Essex additionally got points from McIntyre, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Essex included Anthony Cristofaro, Tyler Turner, Daniel Slipchuk, and Michael Vieira, who each put in one. More assists for Essex came via William Stadder, Tyler Scott, Matthew Hebert, and Phil Janikowski, who each chipped in one.

The Canadiens were led by Nick Tavolieri, who registered two goals and one assist. Tavolieri scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeshore. Lakeshore had gotten the advantage when Essex's Dan Mainella was sent off for checking from behind. Liam MacDougall picked up the assist. Tavolieri's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Essex with 10:40 left in the third period. MacDougall assisted on the tally. Lakeshore also got points from Hunter Corp, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Cameron MacDougall, who had one.

Noah Hedrick made 16 saves for the 73s on 19 shots. Essex incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The 73s ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mainella was ejected from the game. Jeffries rejected 36 shots on goal for the Canadiens. Lakeshore incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
