Essex's Janikowski deadly on offense in 6-2 win against Mooretown

Phil Janikowski was all over the ice for the Essex 73s, as he tallied two goals in Essex's 6-2 win over the Mooretown Flags.

Janikowski scored at 12:14 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Essex and again while 13:56 into the second to make the score 4-1 Essex.

The 73s forced Mooretown's goalies to work without much rest, ripping 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Brandon Johnson made 22 stops and Riley Collins made four.

Essex additionally got points from Scott Bromley, who also registered one goal and one assist and Mark MacPherson, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Essex included Daniel McIntyre and Michael Vieira, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Nick Mainella, Jordan Ryan, Tyler Scott, Tyler Turner, Daniel Slipchuk, and Dan Mainella, who contributed one each.

The Flags stifled Essex's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mooretown's offense rang up 31 shots on the 73s' net.

The Flags were helped by Austin Hewton, who grabbed one goal. Hewton scored 1:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown. Jeff Williams picked up the assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Ryan Lyle as well. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Justin Vanbuskirk, Matt Brandon, and Sam Jasmin, who each chipped in one.

Essex's Colin Lauzon stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The 73s incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mooretown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
