Huge game by Corp boosts Lakeshore over Alvinston, 6-2

Hunter Corp had two goals and one assist to lead the Lakeshore Canadiens to a 6-2 victory over the Alvinston Flyers.

Corp's tallies came at 3:36 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Lakeshore and 10:09 into the third to make the score 6-1 Lakeshore.

Lakeshore's penalty kill excelled, as the Canadiens gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:19 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Lakeshore racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. The Canadiens had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Alvinston was unable to stop Lakeshore from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadiens eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Lakeshore bested its season scoring average. This season, the Canadiens average 3.9 goals per contest.

Lakeshore also had goals scored by Brad Carroll, Sebastian Kanally, Liam MacDougall, and Zack Bedard, who each put in one. More assists for Lakeshore came via Steven Sartor, who had two, Logan Percy, who had three, and Cameron MacDougall, JJ Percy, Mitch Defede, Dylan Kolic, Quinton O'Brien, and John Jeffries, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 53 minutes in penalty time. Alvinston surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Flyers kept Lakeshore's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jeffries made 35 saves on 37 shots.

The Canadiens registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For Lakeshore, Nick Tavolieri was ejected from the game. Brett Avery rejected 35 shots on goal for Alvinston. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeremy VanDeven was ejected from the game.
