Leboeuf leads Wheatley to shutout victory over Dresden

Wheatley Area Arena    Sat, Sep 27, 2014

The Wheatley Sharks used a sparkling performance by Adam Leboeuf to take down the Dresden Kings, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Wheatley's 4-0 shutout victory.

The Sharks were sparked by Nolan Gardiner, who tallied one goal. Gardiner scored 2:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wheatley. Brett Bowman picked up the assist.

Wheatley stifled Dresden's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Sharks forced the Kings goalie Steven Taylor to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Wheatley also got points from Austin Thompson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Scott Florence also scored for Wheatley. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Ryan Zsebok, Michael Travis, Frankie Ciacelli, and Conor Marontate, who contributed one each.

Dresden put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wheatley to score on any of its four power plays. The Kings' offense operated below their season average. Dresden puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. The Sharks were unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Dresden eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Wheatley's Leboeuf stopped 32 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Sharks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Taylor rejected 36 shots on goal for the Kings. Dresden incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
