Dresden hangs on, beats Wallaceburg 4-2

The Dresden Kings took the lead against the Wallaceburg Lakers in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

Blake Padbury provided Dresden with the game-winning tally when he scored 17:25 into the first period. John Montgomery picked up the assist.

The Kings pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes.

Dresden's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Wallaceburg power plays. Wallaceburg was unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Dresden eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Kings got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Dresden was led by Jim McKinlay, who registered one goal and two assists. McKinlay scored on the power play 1:13 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Dresden. Taylor Sisson assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Dresden included Graham Smyth and Derek Daly, who each put in one. In addition, Dresden received assists from Will Tetzlaff and Ross Krieger, who each chipped in one.

The Lakers were led by Matt Clark, who finished with two goals. Clark scored the first of his two goals at 13:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dresden. Clark's next tally made the score 3-2 Dresden with 7:15 left in the third period. Frankie White picked up the assist. More assists for Wallaceburg came via Evan Weidenbach, who had one.

Scott Tricker recorded 25 saves for the Kings. Dresden registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kevin Ritzer was ejected from the game. Joel Sowinski made 28 saves for Wallaceburg on 31 shots. The Lakers ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Wallaceburg, Mike Brown was ejected from the game.
