Keating nets hat trick, leads Alvinston to 4-2 win over Wheatley

A hat trick by Kole Keating was the highlight in Flyers' 4-2 win against the Wheatley Sharks.

Keating notched his first tally 1:01 into the second period. He then added goals at 13:20 into the second and at 19:27 into the third.

The Alvinston Flyers' penalty kill excelled, as Alvinston gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The Flyers kept Wheatley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Conner MacKinnon made 30 saves on 34 shots. Alvinston was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Kirklin Dorman also scored for Alvinston. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Eric Marsh, who had two and Clint Rose, Brett Duncan, and Chad Rainsberry, who contributed one each.

The Sharks stifled the Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wheatley was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes.

The Sharks were helped by Scott Florence, who registered one goal and one assist. Florence scored on the power play 2:19 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Alvinston. Wheatley had gained a power play chance when Dorman was whistled for cross checking. Mike Reid provided the assist. Wheatley also got points from Jimmy Ciacelli, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Wheatley came via Austin Thompson, who had one.

Alvinston's Brett Avery stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Flyers registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
