Kincardine downs Goderich, 6-3Davidson Sat, Jan 03, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Patrick Wiejak registered two points to lead the Kincardine Bulldogs to a 6-3 victory over the Goderich Flyers. Kincardine bested its season scoring average. The Bulldogs average 3.5 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on Kincardine, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. The defensemen of the Bulldogs were also effective in Goderich's zone, and came away with two goals. Others who scored for Kincardine included Alex Labrosse, who had two and Dalton Hnatko, Jordan Bell, and Sam Feagan, who each put in one. In addition, Kincardine received assists from Brycin Morrison, who had two, Shawn Moore, who had three, and Gerrit Satosek, Matt Baker, Collin Whitfield, and Derrick Bernath, who each chipped in one. The Flyers were led by Mitch Kuik, who grabbed two goals. Kuik scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:47 into the third period to make the score 6-2 Kincardine. Goderich had gotten the advantage when Kincardine's Matthew Mah was sent off for slashing. Marcel Fohkens picked up the assist. Kuik's next tally on the power play made the score 6-3 Kincardine with 9:32 left in the third period. The Flyers earned a power play opportunity when Jordan Van Haelemeesch was put in the box for tripping. Chase Duckworth provided the assist. Joseph Dykstra also scored for Goderich. Other players who recorded assists for Goderich were Morgan Benniwies, Taylor Helesic, and Curtis Taylor, who contributed one each. Luke Aulthouse took the win and made nine saves before being replaced by Mitch Campbell who made eight saves. The Bulldogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Goderich's starting goalie, Ben Errington, made 15 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Nathan Watson, who stopped four shots. The Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
