Mount Forest squeaks by Kincardine, 3-2

The Mount Forest Patriots and the Kincardine Bulldogs were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Mount Forest made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Brenden Aitken at 16:18 of the third period.

The Patriots were led by Aitken, who registered one goal.

Mount Forest also had goals scored by Doug Costanzo and Mitch Betts, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Mount Forest were Trevor Hughson, who had two and Devin Williams, Luke Richardson, Josh Perdue, and Brad Binkle, who contributed one each.

Kincardine kept Mount Forest's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Wardlaw made 34 saves on 36 shots.

The Bulldogs were helped by Patrick Wiejak, who tallied one goal. Wiejak scored on the power play 9:55 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Kincardine had gained a power play chance when Hughson was whistled for head contact. Matthew Mah picked up the assist. Brett Burrows also scored for Kincardine. More assists for Kincardine came via Brady Richards and Derrick Bernath, who each chipped in one.

The Patriots incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mitch Campbell rejected 22 shots on goal for the Bulldogs. Kincardine incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
