Norwich pulls away in second, rolls over Delhi, 7-0

The Norwich Merchants scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Delhi Travellers and clinch a 7-0 win.

Norwich was paced by Darcey Butler, who racked up one goal and one assist. Butler scored 7:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Norwich. Matt Zilke picked up the assist.

The Merchants excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Norwich was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Merchants gives up 3.0 goals on average per game. Norwich kept Delhi's goalie busy throughout the game, and Patrick Tanner made 25 saves on 32 shots. The Merchants bested their season scoring average. This season, Norwich averages 3.3 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Norwich also got points from Mitchell Berzins, who also registered one goal and one assist, Braeden Shand, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Troy Lamoure, who also had one goal and one assist. Norwich also had goals scored by Kyle Sault, Jordan Everets, and Dalton Alford, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Zack Morrison, who had two and Kurtis Lavis, Jamie Kelly, Jesse Szabo, and Drake Morrell, who contributed one each.

The Travellers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Merchants to score on any of their three power plays.

Justin Pacheco made 16 saves for Norwich on 16 shots. The Merchants incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Delhi incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
