Chris Grand was all over the ice for the Burford Bulldogs, as he tallied two goals and four assists in Burford's 8-5 win over the Norwich Merchants. Grand scored at 4:42 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Burford and again while 19:21 into the second to make the score 7-4 Burford.The Bulldogs forced Merchants' goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 44 shots and forcing 36 saves. Patrick Maziarz made 20 stops and Justin Pacheco made 16. Burford managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Bulldogs ended up below its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game. Burford outdid its season average for goals scored. The Bulldogs average 3.9 goals per game. Burford additionally got points from Connor Merritt, who also registered two goals and one assist, Kyle Walker, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Jesse Brooks, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Burford included Adam Harris and Mitch Randell, who each put in one. In addition, Burford received assists from Jordan MacKenzie, who had one and Broidy Rondelet, who had two. Norwich forced Burford goalie Michael Black to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots. The Merchants were led by Drake Morrell, who grabbed one goal and three assists. Morrell scored 8:50 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Burford. Austin Sloot picked up the assist. Norwich also got points from Sloot, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Norwich also got a goal from Mitchell Berzins as well. More assists for Norwich came via Troy Lamoure, who had three and Kurtis Lavis and Jordan Gillis, who each chipped in one. Michael Black made 47 saves for the Bulldogs on 52 shots. Burford registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Norwich incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. |
