Wellesley falls to New Hamburg in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Kory Nowak gave the New Hamburg Firebirds a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Wellesley Applejacks when he scored 3:18 into the extra period.

New Hamburg overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Firebirds trailed 2-0 after a goal by Wellesley's Tyler Seguin at 15:46 in the first period. New Hamburg tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Alex Uttley at 15:59 in the third period.

The Firebirds were sparked by Nowak, who grabbed one goal.

New Hamburg forced the Applejacks goalie Tim Bester to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

New Hamburg also had goals scored by Colin Martin, Anthony Osterling, and Jaden Goetz, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for New Hamburg were Jay Fried, David Jennings, Andrew Boer, Brodie Muckler, and Carter Tracey, who contributed one each.

Wellesley also got a goal from Cal Jefferies as well. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Coleton Madge, who had two and Jake Wilkinson and Jacob Younger, who each chipped in one.

The Firebirds' Ryan Purcell stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. New Hamburg incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tim Bester made 37 saves for Wellesley on 41 shots. The Applejacks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
