Ayr downs Paris in overtime, 3-2 (OT)North Dumfries Thu, Oct 23, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Mackenzie Kemp gave the Ayr Centennials a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Paris Mounties when he scored 38 seconds into the extra period. Ayr's penalty kill excelled, as the Centennials gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Ayr was sparked by Kemp, who grabbed one goal. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:54 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Centennials could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Ayr averages 5.9 goals per game. The Centennials forced Paris goalie Davis McLean to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Ayr also had goals scored by Felix Lantaigne and Austin Kovrig, who each put in one. In addition, Ayr received assists from Austin Sine, Jake Whibbs, and Brendan Schaefer, who each chipped in one. The Mounties put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Ayr to score on any of its three power plays. Paris was helped by Austin Cox, who tallied one goal. Cox scored 19:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mitchell Harvey assisted on the tally. Paris also got a goal from Scott Sippel as well. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Tye Calder, Alex Daley, and Garrett Kirby, who contributed one each. Lee Doherty recorded 25 saves for the Centennials. Ayr ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For the Centennials, Logan Beechey was ejected from the game. Davis McLean made 33 saves for the Mounties on 36 shots. Paris ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. The Mounties ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Calder was ejected from the game. |
