Norwich squeaks by Tavistock, 4-2

The Norwich Merchants and the Tavistock Braves were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Norwich made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ryan Stephenson secured the win for the Merchants with a goal in the third period.

Norwich was paced by Stephenson, who racked up one goal and one assist. Stephenson scored 6:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Norwich. Braeden Shand picked up the assist.

Tavistock was unable to stop the Merchants from sending pucks towards the net, and Norwich eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Merchants' goal total was higher than their season average. Norwich averages 1.8 goal per game.

Norwich also got points from Shand, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Norwich also had goals scored by Mitchell Berzins and Zack Morrison, who each put in one. In addition, Norwich received assists from Austin Sloot, Derek Slaght, and Jesse Szabo, who each chipped in one.

The Braves excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Tavistock's offense rang up 34 shots on the Merchants' net.

The Braves were helped by Jake Wiffen, who tallied one goal. Wiffen scored 19:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tavistock. Shaun Pickering provided the assist. Tavistock also got a goal from Jared Yantzi as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Liam Kelly, Greg Hansford, and Matthew Lupton, who contributed one each.

Norwich's Justin Pacheco stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Merchants incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ben Larder made 30 saves for Tavistock on 33 shots. The Braves incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
