Schneider nets hat trick, leads Woodstock to 5-2 win over Wellesley

A hat trick by Jake Schneider was the highlight in Navy Vets' 5-2 win against the Wellesley Applejacks.

Schneider got on the scoresheet 8:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:00 into the first and at 18:29 into the second.

The Woodstock Navy Vets stifled Wellesley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Woodstock forced the Applejacks goalie Brayden Bruce to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Navy Vets bested their season scoring average. Woodstock averages 2.9 goals per game. The Navy Vets struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

Woodstock additionally got points from Justin Elms, who also had one goal and two assists. Woodstock also got a goal from Mike Gillespie as well. In addition, Woodstock received assists from Max Coyle, who had four and Austin Richardson and Braden Hutchison, who each chipped in one.

Wellesley could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Applejacks were helped by Eric Heffernan, who finished with one goal. Heffernan scored 17:21 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Woodstock. Chris Beauchesne picked up the assist. Taylor Doering also scored for Wellesley. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Felix Lantaigne, who had two.

Michael Roefs rejected 23 shots on goal for Woodstock. The Navy Vets registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Brayden Bruce made 27 saves for Wellesley on 32 shots. For the Applejacks, Justin Lebold was ejected from the game.
