Huntsville shrugs off penalties, upends Fergus, 4-0Canada Summit Centre Fri, Jan 30, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Huntsville Otters' penalty kill was superb, as Huntsville survived multiple penalties to beat the Fergus Devils, 4-0. The Otters were led by Tanner Hamilton, who tallied one goal and one assist. Hamilton scored 14 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Josh Zantingh picked up the assist. Huntsville's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game the Otters had been spending in the box. Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Otters kept Fergus' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Elliott made 31 saves on 35 shots. Huntsville also had goals scored by Jake McIntyre, Evan Lade, and Myles York, who scored one goal each. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Tyler Brown, who had two and Myles Bissonette, Riley Vogels, Evan Wilding, and Jamie Halnan, who contributed one each. The Devils' offense operated below their season average. Fergus averages 3.3 goals per game. Hunter Ferguson made 22 saves for Huntsville on 22 shots. The Otters registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Huntsville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zantingh was ejected from the game. The Devils incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. For Fergus, Joshua Schafer was ejected from the game.
