Alliston vanquishes Stayner in shootout, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Alliston Hornets defeated the Stayner Siskins in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Stayner's shootout goal was scored by Quinten Bruce. Alliston's other shootout goal was scored by Jacob Tuck.
The Hornets came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Alliston trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by the Siskins' Ben Lougheed at 16:16 in the second period. The Hornets knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Connor Annett at 8:39 in the third period.
Alliston was helped by Matt Hamilton, who finished with one goal. Hamilton scored 19:41 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Annett provided the assist. Alliston also got points from Annett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tanner Dockerty, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Brendan Spencer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Alliston received assists from Steve Griggs, Adam Arsenault, and Nic Archibald, who each chipped in one.
Stayner stifled the Hornets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.
The Siskins were led by Sean Healy, who registered one goal and one assist. Healy scored 6:32 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Stayner. Kyle Lafreniere picked up the assist. Others who scored for Stayner included Ricky Darrell and Christian Papineau, who scored one goal each. More assists for Stayner came via Bruce, who had two and Lucas Jeffery and Kyle Pavlitski (AP), who contributed one each.
Alliston's Tyler Brindle stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Hornets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alliston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mark ODonnell was ejected from the game. Xavier Portelance recorded 25 saves for Stayner. The Siskins incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
