Penetang beats Huntsville 4-3 after comeback scare

The Huntsville Otters tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Penetang Kings held on for a 4-3 victory.

Penetang made the score 3-1 on a goal by Jordan Schwartz at 2:04 in the third period, and Huntsville got as close as 3-2 when Jamie Halnan scored 5:13 into the third period.

The Kings pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 24 penalty minutes.

Penetang was helped by Craig Robinson, who registered one goal and one assist. Robinson scored on the power play 14:48 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Penetang. A abuse of officials penalty on Connor Christanson had put the Kings on the power play. Schwartz picked up the assist. Penetang additionally got points from Brandon Frandsen, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Schwartz, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Michael Paul also scored for Penetang. In addition, Penetang received assists from Matt Meher, who had one and Hayden Cole, who had three.

The Otters were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 28 penalty minutes.

Huntsville also got a goal from Jay Dix as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Jesse Houlton, Riley Vogels, Dalton Mceachran, and Nathan Zantingh, who each chipped in one.

Penetang's Martin Lauzon stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Kings registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Huntsville took out Connor Christanson after he had made 22 saves and installed Hunter Ferguson in goal, where he finished with three saves and the loss. The Otters registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Huntsville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Christanson was ejected from the game.
