ODonnell's big game bests Huntsville in 8-4 Alliston win

The Alliston Hornets' Mark ODonnell had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing four assists in his team's 8-4 win over the Huntsville Otters.

ODonnell beat Connor Christanson with a shot 8:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alliston. Tanner Dockerty picked up the assist. ODonnell dished an assist on Matt Taylor's goal that made the score 4-0 Alliston at 16:02 into the first period. He then added assists on Nic Archibald's goal at 11:09 into the second, on Archibald's goal at 13:01 into the third, and on Archibald's goal at 19:08 into the third.

Huntsville fell victim to a deadly Alliston power play, which ripped the Otters for five goals.

The Hornets kept Huntsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Christanson made 30 saves on 38 shots. Alliston outdid its season average for goals scored. The Hornets have scored at the pace of 5.1 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Alliston were also effective in the Otters' zone, and came away with three goals. The Hornets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

Alliston also got points from Taylor, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and Archibald, who also racked up three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Alliston included Payton Dunlop and Matt Hamilton, who scored one goal each. More assists for Alliston came via Zack Byblow, Steve Griggs, Jacob Tuck, and Joe Cochrane, who contributed one each.

Huntsville forced Alliston goalie Tyler Brindle to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

The Otters were helped by Jake McIntyre, who tallied three goals. Huntsville also got a goal from Josh Zantingh as well. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Myles York, who had three and Tanner Hamilton, Jamie Halnan, and Walker Davison, who each chipped in one.

Brindle rejected 31 shots on goal for the Hornets. Huntsville incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
