Stayner takes care of Huntsville early, wins 10-5

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Huntsville Otters, which could not recover and fell to the Stayner Siskins, 10-5.

Stayner got the win thanks to a great game by Ricky Darrell, who had two goals and two assists. Darrell scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:17 into the second period to make the score 6-3 Stayner. The Siskins had taken the advantage when Huntsville's Tanner Hamilton got sent off for roughing after whistle. Dakota Hynes assisted on the tally. Darrell's next tally on the power play made the score 7-3 Stayner with 6:33 left in the second period. Stayner was on a disadvantage when Ben Lougheed went off the ice for roughing after whistle. Quinten Bruce provided the assist.

The Siskins pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Stayner forced Otters' goaltenders to work between the pipes, totaling 42 shots and forcing 32 saves. Hunter Ferguson made 22 stops and Connor Christanson made 10. The Siskins found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Stayner averages 4.5 goals per game.

Stayner additionally got points from Bruce, who also had one goal and three assists, Lougheed, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Brandon Watson, who also registered two goals and one assist, Hynes, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Derick Robertson, who also had one goal and two assists, and Sean Healy, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Kort Weir also scored for Stayner. More assists for Stayner came via Jamieson Buck, Griffin Pearce, Lucas Jeffery, Dylan Bursey, and Kyle Lafreniere, who contributed one each.

The Otters were helped by Myles York, who grabbed two goals. York scored the first of his two goals at 7:06 into the second period to make the score 5-2 Stayner. Jake McIntyre picked up the assist. York's next tally made the score 7-5 Stayner with 34 seconds left in the second period. Dalton Mceachran assisted on the tally. Huntsville also got points from McIntyre, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Hamilton, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brendan Fitter, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Huntsville received assists from Jamie Halnan, who had one and Jared Stevens APM, who had two.

Xavier Portelance recorded 24 saves for the Siskins. Stayner registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Huntsville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
