Schomberg penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of PenetangTrisan Centre Thu, Jan 15, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Schomberg Cougars, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Penetang Kings' power play opportunities and emerged with a 4-1 victory. Schomberg was led by Brandon Savoy, who registered one goal. Savoy scored 14:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Schomberg. Justin Formenton assisted on the tally. Penetang was unable to stop the Cougars from sending pucks towards the net, and Schomberg eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Schomberg also got a goal from Kiefer McIntosh as well. In addition, Schomberg received assists from JP Crescenzi, Joseph Mete, John Gage, and Brandon Yorke, who contributed one each. The Kings were held below their usual level of production. Penetang averages 3.6 goals per game. The Kings were led by Hayden Cole, who scored the team's only goal. Cole scored on the power play 7:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Schomberg. Penetang had gained a power play chance when Gage was whistled for interference. Craig Robinson provided the assist. Taylor Ewart rejected 24 shots on goal for the Cougars. Schomberg incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Kings' Martin Lauzon stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Penetang incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
