Penetang outlasts Schomberg, 5-3

The Penetang Kings and the Schomberg Cougars were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Penetang made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Zach Bertucca at 14:47 of the third period.

Bertucca had a great game for the Kings, netting two goals.

Penetang put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Schomberg to score on any of its three power plays. The Cougars were unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Penetang eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Penetang also got points from Craig Robinson, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Penetang also got a goal from Nate Archer as well. In addition, Penetang received assists from Jordan Schwartz, who had two and Kyle Dedecker, Hayden Cole, Dan Hogan, Graham Haley, Ryan Hackett, and Jessey Moreau, who each chipped in one.

Schomberg's offense rang up 43 shots on the Kings' net. The Cougars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Schomberg was led by John Gage, who racked up one goal and two assists. Gage scored short handed 3:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Penetang. The Cougars found themselves down a man on Connor Whiteside's tripping. Cam Russell provided the assist. Schomberg additionally got points from Blake Culley, who also had one goal and one assist. Nicholas Chaykowsky also scored for Schomberg. More assists for Schomberg came via Brandon Yorke and Justin Formenton, who contributed one each.

Adam Redgate made 40 saves for Penetang on 43 shots. The Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Taylor Ewart rejected 28 shots on goal for Schomberg.
