Stayner rips Orillia, 7-4

The Stayner Siskins had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-4 win over the Orillia Terriers.

Ricky Darrell had one goal and two assists to lead Stayner. Darrell scored 7:19 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Stayner. Quinten Bruce assisted on the tally.

Orillia was unable to stop the Siskins from sending pucks towards the net, and Stayner eventually piled up 54 shots on goal. The Siskins' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Stayner averages 4.3 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Siskins were also effective in the Terriers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Stayner also got points from Christian Papineau, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Stayner included Trevor Franklin, Dylan Bursey, Kyle Lafreniere, Ben Lougheed, and Derick Robertson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Stayner were Lucas Jeffery, who had two and Jamieson Buck, Kort Weir, and Ryan Hyndman, who contributed one each.

Orillia stifled Stayner's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Terriers were helped by Denny Benson, who had one goal. Benson scored on the power play 6:43 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Stayner. Orillia had taken the advantage when the Siskins' Jackson Clarke got sent off for slashing. Orillia additionally got points from Mathew White, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Orillia also had goals scored by Tyler Mason and Nathan Beers, who scored one goal each. In addition, Orillia received assists from Jason Binnie, Jacob Beard, and Matt Clifford, who each chipped in one.

Stayner's Trevor Bloch stopped 19 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Siskins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gordie Weiss made 47 saves for the Terriers on 54 shots. Orillia incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
