The Fergus Devils relied on the sparkling performance of Alex Elliott in net to grab a 7-1 win against the Orillia Terriers.

Fergus' penalty kill excelled, as the Devils gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Fergus was led by Paolo Chemello, who tallied one goal. Chemello scored 7:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fergus. Matthew Clarke assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:11 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Devils' offense rang up 42 shots on Orillia's net. Fergus surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Devils average 3.5 goals per game.

Fergus additionally got points from Ben Roelofson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Mikael Ruffini, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Fergus also had goals scored by Cole Bradley, Griffin Heitshu, James Murray, and Mike Traves, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Fergus were Sam Natale, who had one and Joshua Schafer and Robert Ebach, who contributed two each.

The Terriers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Orillia had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Terriers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Orillia was held below its usual level of production. The Terriers put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. Orillia kept Fergus' goalie busy throughout the game, and Elliott made 33 saves on 34 shots.

The Terriers were led by Jordan Felix, who scored the team's only goal. Felix scored on the power play 14:24 into the second period to make the score 7-1 Fergus. A fighting penalty on Dominic Wealthall had put Orillia on the power play. Brock Welsh picked up the assist.

The Devils ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. For Fergus, Patrick Snell and Wealthall were ejected from the contest. The Terriers' Gordie Weiss stopped 35 shots out of the 42 that he faced. For Orillia, Ryan Tucci was ejected from the game.
