Erin holds on for 3-2 win against Caledon

The Caledon Golden Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Erin Shamrocks held on for a 3-2 victory.

Erin made the score 3-1 on a goal by Adam Ferrer at 8:10 in the second period, and Caledon got as close as 3-2 when Ben Ardis scored 9:41 into the third period.

The Golden Hawks' power play was ineffective against the Shamrocks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Erin stifled Caledon's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Others who scored for Erin included Tyler Topham and Connor Mortimer, who scored one goal each. In addition, Erin received assists from Travis Knight, Pat Reay, Adam Gibson, Chris Grenier, and Liam Adamson, who each chipped in one.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Steve Zeppieri, who registered one goal. Zeppieri scored 4:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Erin. Daniel Cafagna picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Caledon were Justin Reid, Ryan Wonfor, and Christian Burel, who contributed one each.

Tom Denstedt made 18 saves for the Shamrocks on 20 shots. Erin incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Caledon's Sam Procopio stopped 17 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Golden Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
