Alliston survives Caledon comeback, wins 4-3

The Alliston Hornets, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Caledon Golden Hawks and clinched a 4-3 victory.

Alliston led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Hornets' Jamie Bennett scored on the power play at 18:21 in the first period to put Alliston up 3-0.

Matt Taylor was all over the ice for the Hornets, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Taylor scored on the power play at 16:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alliston and again while on the power play 2:18 into the third to make the score 4-2 Alliston.

Alliston forced Caledon goalie James Cyfko to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The Hornets were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 66 penalty minutes.

Alliston also got a goal from Matt Cochrane as well. More assists for Alliston came via Nic Archibald, who had three and Joe Cochrane, Tanner Dockerty, Mark ODonnell, Ryan Lewis, and Ryan Franks, who each chipped in one.

The Golden Hawks were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 15 chances. Caledon's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Golden Hawks finished with 36 penalty minutes.

Caledon was helped by Christian Mariconda, who racked up one goal. Mariconda scored on the power play 14:51 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Alliston. The Golden Hawks had gotten the advantage when Alliston's Brendan Spencer was sent off for head contact. Others who scored for Caledon included Ben Ardis and Steven Klomp, who each put in one. In addition, Caledon received assists from Daniel Cafagna, who had one and Nicholas McNutt, who had two.

Tyler Brindle recorded 21 saves for the Hornets. Alliston registered three goals on six power play opportunities. James Cyfko made 35 saves for Caledon on 39 shots. For the Golden Hawks, Ryan Mouser, Klomp, and Mariconda were ejected from the contest.
