The Erin Shamrocks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Penetang Kings on the way to a 5-4 win. Erin made the score 5-3 on a goal by Adam Gibson at 6:55 in the third period, and Penetang got as close as 5-4 when Jessey Moreau scored 12:40 into the third period. The Shamrocks were led by Gibson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:56 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Erin forced the Kings' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots and forcing 40 saves. Adam Redgate made 29 stops and Martin Lauzon made 11. Erin also got points from Tyler Nieuwendyk, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Erin also had goals scored by Chris Grenier, Braydon Cresswell, and Connor Mortimer, who scored one goal each. More assists for Erin came via Adam Anderson, Ben Nicolucci, Pat Reay, and Cameron DeFazio, who contributed one each. Penetang kept the Shamrocks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tom Denstedt made 42 saves on 46 shots. Others who scored for Penetang included Hayden Cole, Jordan Schwartz, and Brad Kuepfer, who each put in one. In addition, Penetang received assists from Nate Archer, who had two and Brandon Frandsen, Matt Meher, and David Pearce, who each chipped in one. Erin totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Shamrocks, DeFazio was ejected from the game. The Kings totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Penetang ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Hackett was ejected from the game.
