Buehler nets hat trick, leads Midland to 8-2 win over Orillia

Evan Buehler lifted the Midland Flyers to an 8-2 victory with a hat trick against the Orillia Terriers.

Buehler's first goal came 3:59 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:30 into the second and at 10:52 into the second.

Orillia's power play was ineffective against Midland's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Flyers stifled the Terriers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Midland's goal total was higher than its season average. The Flyers average 3.4 goals per game.

Midland also got points from Steven Pickard, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Neal Burgess, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Matt Smith also scored for Midland. In addition, Midland received assists from Jon Goldsworthy, who had two and Tully Jackson, Nick Heins, and Curtis Rawn, who contributed one each.

Orillia got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its 11 chances.

The Terriers were led by Kyle Taylor, who registered one goal. Taylor scored 3:26 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Orillia also got a goal from Brock Welsh as well. Other players who recorded assists for Orillia were Ryan Tucci and Mathew White, who each chipped in one.

Jake Norton recorded 23 saves for Midland. The Flyers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Gordie Weiss took the loss and made 15 saves before being replaced by Noah Leis who made five saves. Orillia incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
