Alliston squeaks by Huntsville, 5-4

The game between the Alliston Hornets and the Huntsville Otters was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Alliston emerged with a 5-4 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Steve Griggs at 19:56 of the third period.

The Hornets got the win with help from a great game by Jamie Bennett, who had one goal and three assists. Bennett scored on the power play 4:33 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Alliston earned a power play opportunity when Josh Zantingh was put in the box for checking from behind. Payton Dunlop assisted on the tally.

The Hornets forced Huntsville goalie Connor Christianson to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Penalties took their toll on Alliston, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Alliston also got points from Dunlop, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Nick Arcan, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Alliston also got a goal from Nic Archibald as well. In addition, Alliston received assists from Tanner Dockerty, Ryan Lewis, Matt Hamilton, and Ryan Franks, who contributed one each.

The Otters were led by Evan Lade, who racked up one goal and two assists. Lade scored on the power play 14:03 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Huntsville had taken the advantage when the Hornets' Hamilton got sent off for tripping. Jay Dix picked up the assist. Huntsville additionally got points from Brendan Fitter, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Huntsville included Jesse Houlton and Sam King, who each put in one. More assists for Huntsville came via Elliott Lade, Jake McIntyre, and Corey Miller, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Brindle recorded 22 saves for Alliston. The Hornets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Otters' Christianson stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Huntsville ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For the Otters, Zantingh was ejected from the game.
