Huge game by Cafagna boosts Caledon over Huntsville, 8-6Caledon East Arena Sun, Nov 09, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Caledon Golden Hawks' Daniel Cafagna had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 8-6 win over the Huntsville Otters. Cafagna scored at 17:55 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Caledon and again while on the power play 7:40 into the third to make the score 7-6 Caledon.Caledon led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Golden Hawks' Christian Mariconda scored at 12:59 in the second period to put Caledon up 6-2. The Golden Hawks forced Huntsville's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 38 shots and forcing 30 saves. Hunter Ferguson made nine stops and Connor Christianson made 21. Caledon bested its season scoring average. The Golden Hawks have scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign. Caledon additionally got points from Steven Klomp, who also tallied two goals and three assists to lead the team in points and Mariconda, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Steve Zeppieri also scored for Caledon. In addition, Caledon received assists from Randy Chen, Jake Mottershaw, Christian Bonaldi, and Ryan Mouser, who each chipped in one. The Otters kept Caledon's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sam Procopio made 34 saves on 40 shots. Huntsville was helped by Nathan Zantingh, who had two goals. Zantingh scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Otters had gotten the advantage when the Golden Hawks' Ben Ardis was sent off for kneeing. Zantingh's next tally on the power play made the score 6-6 with 17:13 left in the third period. Huntsville had gained a power play chance when Mouser was whistled for slashing. Tyler Brown assisted on the tally. Huntsville also got points from Jay Dix, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brown, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Huntsville also had goals scored by Sam King and Corey Miller, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Josh Zantingh, who had one. Caledon incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Otters totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Huntsville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zantingh was ejected from the game.
