Erin holds on for 8-7 win against Orillia

The Orillia Terriers tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Erin Shamrocks held on for an 8-7 victory.

A goal by Adam Anderson put Erin up 8-4 in the third period, but Orillia pulled to within one on Jordan Felix's tally 17:01 into the third period.

Anderson was all over the ice for the Shamrocks, as he registered two goals in the win.

Erin bested its season scoring average. This season, the Shamrocks average 3.4 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Erin additionally got points from Tyler Topham, who also had one goal and one assist, Darcy Hackett, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Connor Mortimer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Erin also had goals scored by Adam Gibson, Cameron DeFazio, and Chris Grenier, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Erin were Tyler Nieuwendyk, who had two and Jack Ford, Travis Knight, Adam Ferrer, and Brad Ranson, who contributed one each.

The Terriers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Orillia has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Terriers were helped by Jason Binnie, who registered three goals and one assist. Orillia also got points from Jacob Beard, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Greg Buchanan, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Brock Welsh, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Felix, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Orillia received assists from Jason Stone, who had two and Mathew White and Matt Clifford, who each chipped in one.

Mark Terry made 18 saves for Erin on 25 shots. The Shamrocks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Orillia took out Gordie Weiss after he had made 19 saves and installed Noah Leis in goal, where he finished with one save and the loss. The Terriers totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For Orillia, Ryan Tucci was ejected from the game.
