The Midland Flyers' Steven Pickard had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 8-4 win over the Fergus Devils. Pickard beat David Serra with a shot 3:55 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Midland. Evan Buehler provided the assist. Pickard dished an assist on Neal Burgess's goal that made the score 2-0 Midland at 13:48 into the first period. He added another helper on Burgess' goal that made the score 6-3 Midland at 4:03 into the second period.Fergus' power play was ineffective against Midland's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Flyers forced Devils' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 45 shots and forcing 37 saves. Serra made 13 stops and Alex Elliott made 24. Midland found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Flyers average 3.1 goals per game. Midland was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. The Flyers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 38 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. Midland also got points from Buehler, who also registered one goal and four assists to lead the team in points and Jake Evans, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Midland included Ben Skuce, Corey DeRose, and Callan Heins, who scored one goal each. More assists for Midland came via Nick Heins, who had three and Tully Jackson, Daniel Pickering, and Curtis Rawn, who each chipped in one. The Devils kept Midland's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Klerer made 32 saves on 36 shots. Fergus got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The Devils incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
