In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Midland Flyers escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Penetang Kings.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Evan Buehler's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Buehler was all over the ice for Midland, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Buehler scored on the power play 12:57 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Midland. A head contact penalty on Zach Bertucca had put the Flyers on the power play. Steven Pickard provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:24 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Midland's offense rang up 38 shots on Penetang's net.

Midland additionally got points from Pickard, who also registered one goal and one assist. Midland also got a goal from Neal Burgess as well. Other players who recorded assists for Midland were Jon Goldsworthy, who had two.

The Kings' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Penetang surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Kings' offense operated below their season average. Penetang puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. The Kings kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Klerer made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Penetang was led by Matt Meher, who racked up one goal and one assist. Meher scored short handed 15:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Midland. A slashing call on Kaden Shearer put the Kings on the penalty kill. David Pearce assisted on the tally. Jordan Schwartz also scored for Penetang. In addition, Penetang received assists from Dan Hogan, who had one.

Midland totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. For the Flyers, Cam Russell was ejected from the game. Adam Redgate made 35 saves for Penetang on 38 shots. The Kings registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Penetang ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mackenzie Bumstead was ejected from the game.
