Alliston outlasts Erin, 5-3

The Alliston Hornets gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Erin Shamrocks.

Alliston gained the winning advantage on a goal by Joe Cochrane 5:57 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Hornets were paced by Tanner Dockerty, who tallied one goal and one assist. Dockerty scored 8:27 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Alliston. Mark ODonnell picked up the assist.

Alliston forced Erin's netminders to work in net, firing 40 shots and forcing 35 saves. Tom Denstedt made 17 stops and Mark Terry made 18. The Hornets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Alliston also got points from Cochrane, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Alliston included Steve Griggs, Payton Dunlop, and Jacob Tuck, who each put in one. In addition, Alliston received assists from Matt Hamilton, who had two and Jamie Bennett, Gianluca Pallotta, and Nic Archibald, who contributed one each.

The Shamrocks stifled Alliston's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Erin was helped by Darcy Hackett, who racked up one goal. Hackett scored 25 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Erin. Joe Heath provided the assist. Erin also had goals scored by Brett Bloor and Chris Grenier, who scored one goal each. More assists for Erin came via Adam Ferrer, Adam Gibson, Tyler Topham, and Brad Ranson, who each chipped in one.

TJ Sherwood made 24 saves for the Hornets on 27 shots. Alliston incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Hornets, Mike Barosso was ejected from the game. The Shamrocks incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
