Penetang outlasts Erin, 3-2

The Penetang Kings gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Erin Shamrocks.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Matt VanBoven at 19:27 of the second period.

Erin's power play was ineffective against Penetang's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Kings were led by VanBoven, who grabbed one goal.

Penetang forced the Shamrocks goalie Mark Terry to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Others who scored for Penetang included Kyle Burns and Craig Robinson, who each put in one. More assists for Penetang came via Hayden Cole, Nate Archer, Brad Kuepfer, Matt Meher, Mackenzie Bumstead, and David Pearce, who each chipped in one.

Erin was helped by Liam Adamson, who had one goal. Adamson scored on the power play 19:58 into the first period to make the score 2-2. The Shamrocks had taken the advantage when the Kings' Kaden Shearer got sent off for tripping. Tyler Nieuwendyk provided the assist. Erin also got a goal from Darcy Hackett as well. In addition, Erin received assists from Brett Bloor and Cameron DeFazio, who contributed one each.

Penetang's Martin Lauzon stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Kings incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Terry rejected 35 shots on goal for Erin. The Shamrocks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
