Fergus wins tough contest against Caledon, 3-2Centre Wellington Sportsplex Fri, Oct 31, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Fergus Devils and the Caledon Golden Hawks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Fergus emerged with a 3-2 win. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Mike Traves at 14:18 of the second period. Traves was all over the ice for the Devils, as he had two goals in the win. Caledon was unable to stop Fergus from sending pucks towards the net, and the Devils eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Griffin Heitshu also scored for Fergus. More assists for Fergus came via Patrick Snell, Mikael Ruffini, and Brock Heshka, who contributed one each. The Golden Hawks forced Fergus goalie Alex Elliott to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Caledon was led by Adam Breen, who racked up two goals. Breen scored the first of his two goals at 1:47 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Caledon. Chris Smith assisted on the tally. Breen's next tally made the score 3-3 with 17:20 left in the third period. Nick Figliomeni picked up the assist. Caledon also got a goal from Derek Czech as well. In addition, Caledon received assists from Christian Bonaldi, who had one. Alex Elliott made 39 saves for the Devils on 41 shots. Fergus incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sam Procopio rejected 33 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Caledon incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
