Penetang squeaks by Schomberg, 4-2

The Penetang Kings and the Schomberg Cougars were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Penetang made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Craig Robinson's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Robinson had two goals to lead the Kings to victory.

Penetang pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The Kings forced Schomberg goalie Taylor Ewart to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Penetang cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

Penetang also had goals scored by Jordan Schwartz and Matt VanBoven, who scored one goal each. More assists for Penetang came via Brad Kuepfer and David Pearce, who contributed one each.

The Cougars kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Redgate made 34 saves on 36 shots.

Schomberg was helped by Mitchell Robinson, who grabbed one goal. Robinson scored on the power play 9:04 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The Cougars had gained a power play chance when Kaden Shearer was whistled for head contact. Brandon Yorke picked up the assist. Francesco Corona also scored for Schomberg. In addition, Schomberg received assists from Kiefer McIntosh, who had two.

Ewart recorded 27 saves for Schomberg. The Cougars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
