Huge game by Fitter boosts Huntsville over Fergus, 7-3

Brendan Fitter was all over the ice for the Huntsville Otters, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Huntsville's 7-3 win over the Fergus Devils.

Fitter's tallies came at 45 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville and on the power play 35 seconds into the second to make the score 3-1 Huntsville.

Fergus was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Otters were able to score five times while on the power play.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:19 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Huntsville was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Otters had been spending in the box. Huntsville forced the Devils goalie Alex Elliott to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. The Otters' goal total was higher than their season average. Huntsville averages 4.1 goals per game.

Huntsville additionally got points from Dalton Mceachran, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Huntsville included Sam King, Jake McIntyre, Tyler Brown, and Jamie Halnan, who scored one goal each. More assists for Huntsville came via Riley Vogels, who had one and Elliott Lade, Josh Zantingh, and Corey Miller, who each chipped in two.

Fergus' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. The Devils surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. The Otters were unable to stop Fergus from sending pucks towards the net, and the Devils eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Team could not crack Huntsville's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Fergus was helped by James Murray, who registered one goal. Murray scored on the power play 19:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Huntsville. The Devils had gotten the advantage when the Otters' Myles Bissonette was sent off for tripping. Brock Heshka picked up the assist. Fergus also got points from Ben Roelofson, who also had one goal and one assist. Fergus also got a goal from Jack Vautour as well. In addition, Fergus received assists from Patrick Snell, who had one.

Connor Christianson made 31 saves for Huntsville on 34 shots. Team's Chris Goodfellow and Halnan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Fergus' Elliott stopped 47 shots out of the 54 that he faced. For the Devils, Joshua Schafer, Mike Traves, and Dominic Wealthall were ejected from the contest.
