Huntsville wins tough contest against Caledon, 4-2

The Huntsville Otters and the Caledon Golden Hawks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Huntsville made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nathan Zantingh at 10:13 of the second period.

The Otters were paced by Zantingh, who had one goal and one assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:35 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Huntsville was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Otters had been spending in the box.

Huntsville additionally got points from Josh Zantingh, who also registered one goal and one assist. Huntsville also had goals scored by Sean Crowe and Brendan Fitter, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Jay Dix, Corey Miller, Jason Morissette, Tyler Brown, and Walker Davison, who each chipped in one.

Caledon forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The Golden Hawks surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game.

Caledon was helped by James Pitsadiotis, who grabbed one goal. Pitsadiotis scored on the power play 6:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledon. The Golden Hawks had gotten the advantage when Huntsville's Brown was sent off for cross checking. Steve Zeppieri assisted on the tally. Caledon also got points from Christian Bonaldi, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Caledon received assists from Cody Forgione, who had one.

The Otters' Connor Christianson stopped 15 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Huntsville registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. The Otters ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jesse Houlton was ejected from the game. James Cyfko rejected 26 shots on goal for Caledon. The Golden Hawks registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Caledon, Adam Breen, Alex Palumbo, and Daniel Cafagna were ejected from the contest.
